What Anti Virus Should I Use?
One of the most common questions we are asked is "What Anti Virus should I Use?". That is an excellent question, and we love it when people are interested in their cyber security. There are many great anti virus programs available today, many of the best programs are really common names in the consumer computer world. Regardless of which anti virus you choose, please keep in mind that anti virus programs are just a small part of an overall security system or mindset. Anti virus programs are generally updated many times per day, however because hackers and cyber criminals change or modify virus and malware programs often; there is no guarantee that your program will catch the modified threat. The best protection is "you", If something doesn't look right, most likely it isn't right. Be careful what you click on and why. For instance, if you like to play online games. Look for a safe site, that has good reviews or better yet a paid site. You ask why would I pay for a site when all the free ones exist? Well the answer is simple, nothing in life or the internet is truly free. I promise you a person did not spend 95k dollars getting a programming degree, buy or lease server space and then spend multiple years developing a game to give it away for free. So its either supported by advertising, malware to sell your browsing habits to ad companies or its a paid site. Either way they are getting paid. We found a great anti virus software when the cryptolocker virus was hitting everyone. It was the only one that protected against it. Honestly, we had never heard of it prior to this. So we started selling it and replaced all our AV products with it. The name of it is Webroot and it has been amazing. We have never found a product that worked as well as it and its cheaper than most of the leading "big name" products. You still need to be careful what you do online, have your computer tuned up yearly and run a manual malware removal tool every three months. But Webroot is a great product as part of your overall protection plan.
